Managed Care Residency Program
ESI Canada Receives Approval for Managed Care Residency Program From the Industrial Pharmacy Residency Program Committee
TORONTO, April 10 2000 /CNW/ - ESI Canada, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has received approval to offer a 12-month residency program in managed care from the Industrial Pharmacy Residency Program Committee (IPRPC) starting in September 2000. The IPRPC is affiliated with the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto and is the advisory body to various industrial pharmacy residency programs.
Currently, there are 10 pharmaceutical companies offering approved residency programs in Canada. ESI Canada is the only Canadian pharmacy benefit management company to be granted this distinction.
ESI Canada's Managed Care Residency Program will promote the education and training of pharmacists in the fundamentals of managed health care. The program is designed to be exploratory, program-based, and student-centred, resulting in an exceptional learning experience in the managed care field. The program will be under the direction of the Department of Health Management Services. The primary supervisors of the program will be Ms. Verna Hutchinson, B.Sc.Pharm., Program Manager for Clinical Education, Training and Support and Dr. Steven Semelman, Director.
